Heavy Diesel Traineeships | FutureFit Academy | Mackay · Mackay, QLD
This is an 11-month paid traineeship where you train to become a Maintenance Associate, learning to maintain big mining machines like bulldozers, graders, loaders, excavators and dump trucks. You'll split your time between classroom learning and hands-on workshop training at BHP's FutureFit Academy in Mackay, working toward a Certificate II in Engineering. Day to day you'd learn to check equipment, spot faults, understand basic hydraulics, read mechanical drawings, and help qualified tradespeople with repairs under supervision. You need to already live within 45 minutes of the Mackay academy or be ready to relocate there yourself, since accommodation and transport aren't provided. No mining experience is needed going in, but after training you might be asked to relocate, possibly interstate, depending on where BHP needs your skills.
