In this job you help design and draft plans for infrastructure projects like roads, bridges, cycleways, drainage, water systems and renewable energy. You use design software such as Autodesk and Bentley to help other drafters and designers create engineered drawings. You also help work out quantities for projects so costs can be estimated, and you sometimes go out to project sites to gather information for the designs. Alongside the job, you study an Associate Degree in Civil Engineering part-time by correspondence through USQ or CQU, which is paid for once you complete it. You need to have finished or be finishing Year 12 to apply.
