About

AECOM is a global infrastructure consultancy whose planners, designers, engineers, scientists, and program and construction managers work on projects spanning transportation, buildings, water, new energy and the environment. Its Australia and New Zealand team numbers more than 3,500 people, part of a global workforce of nearly 50,000. The company aims to lead the infrastructure sector in gender diversity, backing that with transparent policy commitments, explicit targets and investment in frameworks that support women's careers at every stage. It has held the Employer of Choice citation for eleven years. Day to day, that shows up as a culture of flexibility, trust and performance, with flexible and hybrid working options so people can find the balance they need. Part-time work at senior levels is genuinely supported: one of the company's group directors for energy has spoken about her managers backing her decision not to work full-time, and about how her career progression would have stalled without it. Learning and development is broad and inclusion-focused, covering topics such as unconscious bias, LGBTQ+ awareness and First Nations knowledge to build understanding and capability across the organisation. The mCircles program gives women at AECOM a platform to connect, build networks, learn from peers and share their experiences, while the Advocate Sponsorship program pairs high-performing emerging female leaders with members of the Australia and New Zealand Leadership Team, opening up networks, strategic alliances and opportunities. Those sponsorship relationships often continue informally well beyond the program. AECOM also works with other Australian consulting organisations through Consult Australia's Champions of Change to promote gender equity practices across the industry.
