Join Water Corporation as a Trainee Civil Operator in Newman and play a vital role in maintaining the water and wastewater services that keep local communities thriving. We'll provide the training, support and opportunities to help you succeed.

About the role

• Maintain and repair water and wastewater infrastructure, including fixing water leaks and maintaining sites and grounds

• Use a range of hand and power tools and small plant equipment

• Collect water samples and carry out routine operational checks to help maintain water quality

• Work closely with experienced team members, following instructions and learning industry best practice

• Assist in maintaining sewer systems and wastewater networks

• Perform hands-on work, similar to plumbing, on larger-scale pipes and infrastructure that service entire communities

• Complete a nationally recognised Certificate II in Water Industry Operations (1 year), then the potential opportunity to continue for a 2nd year with your Certificate III - all paid for by us!

• Attend training courses and development activities, which may occasionally require travel and overnight stays outside Newman

• A great ability to learn, both on the job and in the classroom, with great listening skills

• Experience working on Technical Systems - you’ll be ‘tech savvy’

• Enjoyment of working on country, being outdoors and adapting to cover a multitude of sites

• A current WA ‘C Class’ Drivers Licence

• Strong awareness of safety and a commitment to working safely

• Enjoy working with your hands - some work involves heavy manual tasks, precision work in workshop or field environments, and some handling of dangerous goods. You’ll get all the training you need to keep safe
