You'd join a team of Electrical and Mechanical Operators at an EDL power station and train in either the electrical or mechanical trade over a four-year apprenticeship. Day to day you'd help with maintenance on electrical equipment, and with inspecting, servicing and repairing diesel and gas engines, pumps, compressors, cooling systems and valves. You'd also help with equipment shutdowns and overhauls, spot and report equipment problems, and keep tools and the workshop clean and tidy. Alongside the practical work you'd attend training, workshops and assessments, and follow EDL's safety rules, including safety meetings and hazard reporting.
