Who we are

KONE is a global leader in the elevator and escalator industry. Our purpose is to shape the future of cities, and every day our equipment moves around two billion people worldwide, making their journeys safe, convenient and reliable with what we call People Flow®.

KONE was founded in Finland in 1910 and is headquartered in Helsinki. Globally, we have more than 60,000 employees and operate in close to 70 countries, working with around 600,000 customers, from builders and building owners to facility managers, architects and consultants. Five of the world’s ten tallest buildings use KONE high-rise technology.

We hold more than 3,000 patents across our businesses, and we run eight global research and development centres and ten manufacturing units in seven countries. Our 2025–2030 strategy, Rise to lead, sets out our ambition to lead the industry: to be the number one choice for our employees and customers, to lead in innovation and sustainability, and to lead in growth and profitability.
